BASEBALL.
The championship games of the
week will begin this afternoon with a contest between the Excelsiors and the
Fearless (colored) club. The latter will have their strongest team in the
field, one peculiarity of which will be seven left handed batters. The games in
which the colored players take part are always well attended, because they are the
most amusing. Those who wish to see the humorous features of the game in great variety
will certainly be accommodated at Riverside to-day. Other championship games will
be played during the week as follows: Wednesday, Excelsiors vs. Mutuals;
Friday, Excelsiors vs. Academys.
Hereafter, all boys not accompanied by their parents will be seated in the open stand. This will clear the grand stand of urchins, who before the present association got full control, caused spectators some annoyance.

SHOOTING.
At Creedmoor,
Saturday, an American team of six defeated a Canadian team of six, 1,273 to 1,285. This is the best shooting by teams
of six on record in this country and it is excelled anywhere only by the Hollymount
score made by the Americans and Irish
recently.

Island was an NRA shooting range from 1872 until 1892. Link: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/tag/creedmoor/
