Not since our opening story “No Cow Left Behind” appeared, has our campus reporter opined on odd happenings at Cortland’s SUNY campus. Forsooth, we report that she found another unexplained oddity.
We can reckon with the introduction of “woke” awareness in social studies, but find it rather odd when it appears in math studies. Students, as well as our campus reporter, are questioning the purpose and intent.
We wonder if the college president and trustees condone this questionable infusion in math studies? The explanations we have heard from a few educators fall short of rational belief.
Our campus reporter thinks that math is a pure science no matter how often it is infused with unnecessary social attachments. She thinks a math instructor has dropped a fishing rod and plunged into the water chasing her fish.
