GOVERNMENT MISSING
Has anyone
else noticed that our federal government does very little, if any, governing
these days? Our representatives seem to spend all their time on politics;
politics for its own sake. I find myself tuned out with a ‘wake me up when it’s
over’ attitude coupled with a serious concern for our country and where we’re headed.
The campaigns for 2020 are making the situation worse. Populism will not deal
with our most serious (and festering) problems. All of which predate 2016.
Our federal
debt is growing and out of control. If we attempt to fix it with taxes, we’ll
tank out economy.
Our per
capita cost for health care is twice what other developed countries spend, and
they have universal coverage. They also have better results in the health of
their citizens. We lead the world in obesity, diabetes, heart disease and do
poorly in other categories such as mental health.
Inequality
has been growing for years at both the corporate and personal levels. It can’t
be fixed with handouts. Think ‘class system’.
Of course, as
has been pointed out to me many times, there’s nothing we can do about it.
Special interest money rules the roost. We’ll continue, as always, to vote for
the candidates of OUR party.
Einstein
famously said that the definition of insanity is continuing to try the same
solutions to a problem while expecting a different result.
Was he wrong?

P. S. Here’s HOPE.
