FIGHTING

One reader reacted to my recent piece by pointing out that in earlier times there were fist fights and worse on the floors of both houses of Congress.

I recall that in one case a member was beaten with a cane resulting in a life-long disability.

I certainly don’t condone violence, but I can’t help but feel it was more honest than what we have now.
