Is there anybody out there who’s not aware of the cliff hanger in DC? It’s a media bonanza, and a politician’s opportunity to get his, or her, puss on TV.

On one hand, we’re told of the irreparable harm that awaits if we don’t keep printing and spending. On the other, of the inflation and economic  breakdown if we do.

Not to worry, say the spenders, we’ll tax the rich to pay for it. Ah, the rich.

Contrary to what many seem to believe, they don’t keep their money under the mattress, but rather invest it in enterprises that pay taxes, and employ people who also pay taxes.

Yeah, let’s get ‘em, and add a wealth tax so they have less money to invest. Our politicians will do much better.

I’m reminded of Cory Booker observing that “We need to make it before we can spend it.”
