IMAGINATION.
Is it my imagination, or are we now voting for personalities, and not issues? And are these personalities concentrating on what they’re against rather than what they’re for?
A few years ago there was a weekly British sitcom on TV called “Yes Minister”. It seemed that elected politicians were mere figureheads, and that civil servants actually ran the country. A wise minister (a buffoon) did what he was told.
In DC today, we have an ample number of civil servants, but more important are the numbers of staff allotted to each member of the House and Senate. With seniority, the numbers grow. New buildings are constructed to house them.
Most of their time is devoted to campaigning and raising money.
I’m a conscientious citizen; I always vote. But why?
