THE GREAT CONFINEMENT.
This
reach-out is not related to Coronavirus but rather to the effects of dealing
with it. I am not critical of the measures taken to minimize social contact but
the side effects are painful. We all have friends and acquaintances; some of
them really matter, and we feel emptiness in not being able to touch them or be
with them.
I
particularly miss hugging and the sensation of warm comfort it brings. Of
course, I have Una—We never tire of each other. But what about everyone else?
Perhaps we need to do more. The phones still work and, as Al Capp’s character
in Little Abner often said, “As any fool can plainly see,” we have email.
For some,
this might feel like a chore, but who knows? Your friend might benefit from
your effort.
