HATRED.
I’m fascinated by hatred and the effects it has on the hater. Before doing some research, I thought the effects would be universally bad. Not so, say the scientists in their research. It may actually be helpful for some individuals to vent their feelings about other people and groups this way.
This helps me to understand why fomenting hatred is so popular with politicians these days. It works, and is certainly a lot more efficient than detailed arguments for, or against, some policies.
But there’s a downside; we don’t get to debate, or understand, what we’re doing, or planning to do.
For most of us, this means a lot of guesswork goes into our plans for our personal futures, financial and other. I’m struggling and find myself more often falling back onto my own default—‘When in doubt, do nothing.’
