SOME THOUGHTS

Joe Bakewell.

                                              SOME THOUGHTS.

I often amuse myself, letting my mind wander over a range of thoughts. Getting vaccinated seems to have freed up some brain capacity for the state of our nation and the high percentage of our citizens who believe that we live in a capitalistic country. We do not. Capitalism is a system wherein resources (money, buildings, land, workers) are moved away from inefficient enterprises to efficient ones. This is generally done by investors seeking the best reward for the risks they’re taking. I am one such investor. Some others are large, well funded organizations that can afford to do considerable research into prospective investments.

The market place does a reasonable job at keeping risk and reward in balance. Sad to say; special interest money is aimed at achieving the opposite.

For you to ponder:

Is the stimulus money focused on restoring our economy, or is it now a political tool?

Is China forcing us into a massive Strategic Industries program, one in which politicians make technology and investment decisions? Will they invade Taiwan, a major supplier of the chips we rely on, and a nation which we are pledged to defend militarily?

I suspect they’ll hold back, waiting to see how Biden handles Iran and Iraq.

As a general question, are we approaching a line which, if crossed, switches us to a socialist country?
